Welcome to the Pegasus Web Site
We are a racewalking club with both competitive and non-competitive walkers. See our SCHEDULE for information regarding our club workouts.
A group of our walkers competes in the Grand Prix which is a series of races in various locations across the country from 5km through 50km.
The Pegasus men’s team won the team title in 2016, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2008, 2007, and 2004.
The Pegasus women’s team won first place in 2015, 2014, 2009, 2008 (tie), 2007 (tie), and 2006.
– a unique blend of endurance & technique is more than a stroll in the park. It offers a quality training experience. Competitive walkers train using a combination of running and walking.
The Michigan area offers an abundance of races which fitness walkers use to spike their training, travel and meet new walking friends. Races are held as events in track meets or as separate race events.
Elite men average 6:30 per mile over the 20 kilometer Olympic distance, and approach 7:00 per mile over 50 kilometers.
Women’s times near 7:00 per mile for 10 kilometers.
Walking events are also part of the World Track & Field Championships, Pan American Games, Goodwill Games, and other international meets and events.
Even if an athlete can’t match Olympic performances, walking for competition and fitness is an excellent, low-impact total body exercise that everyone can do.
